|
SteelSummit Holdings, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation of America, started in 1984 as Vicksmetal Corporation, a toll processor of electrical grade steels in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Sumitomo decided growth was in order and built Tennessee Metal, a service center in LaVergne, Tennessee, now known as SteelSummit Tennessee. A 1990 acquisition in Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly Ohio Metal Processing and another development in the year 2000 in Greenville, South Carolina have completed what is now the core of the SteelSummit Service Center chain. SteelSummit has developed interest and holdings in other operations between 1990 and 2004, including another electrical steel toll processor in Frankfort, Indiana and two sales and marketing arms known as Steel Coils of Tennessee and Steel Coils of Midwest. SteelSummit’s headquarters are now located in LaVergne, Tennessee.
